Permits & Entry Requirements
- For Indians: No special permit is needed, but carry valid ID proof.
- For Foreigners: A Restricted Area Permit (RAP) is required, available at Port Blair airport.
- October to May is ideal for water activities.
- April to June is hot but good for diving & beach visits.
- June to September (Monsoon) sees heavy rainfall & rough seas.
- Limited Network – Only BSNL, Airtel, and Jio work; the internet is slow, especially on islands.
- Wi-Fi is available at some hotels, but it may be weak.
- Limited ATMs – Carry enough cash, as smaller islands may not have ATMs.
- Some resorts & tour operators accept UPI & cards, but not all.
- Ferries & Boats: Govt & private ferries connect islands (book in advance).
- Helicopter Service: Available for remote islands but costly.
- No Plastic Policy: Avoid single-use plastic to protect marine life.
- No Touching Coral Reefs: Heavy fines for damaging marine ecosystems.
- No Photography in Tribal Areas: Visiting or photographing indigenous tribes (e.g., Jarwas) is illegal.
- Best for Water Sports: Havelock & Neil Islands offer snorkeling, scuba diving & sea walks.
- Follow Safety Rules: Strong currents in some areas; always listen to guides.
